AKAI MPC 1000
Music Production Center
The akai mpc 1000 music production
center is one of the best drum
machines I have ever owned. That's saying a lot too because
I still have my Roger Linn MPC 3000.
I never played with a MPC-60 but I know
some analog producers that still have that in
their arsenal.
The MPC 1000 is a great tool for me in my studio because of
the light weight compact design and the usb port.
Once they implemented the usb allowing me to drop and drag
samples to and from my drum machine
within seconds I was hooked.
I can't tell you the countless hours I have slaved in front
of MPC 2000's and 3000's chopping and sampling sounds and
drums.
I'm an OG producer too so I have experienced
the SCSI Drives and the 100 mb
Zip Drives. It was not an easy task back in the day.
Compact Flash and smart media cards made the game a little
better. However, when they came along I had so many hits on Zip
drives I had to keep my Roger Linn Edition
MPC.
Technology is forever growing so I'm sure the 1000 will be
obsolete in the production world if you are trying to keep
up wit the Jones's.
As for me it's going to be a vintage piece of gear that I
pass down to my son who bangs beats and plays piano like
Alicia Keys at the age of 9 years old. Hello!
