Associated Production
Music
Wanna know my definition of associated production music
and why it's good and bad at the same time. I hope you do
because I'm about to go into it anyway.
The mega producer Timbaland is a very
consistent hit maker in the music production arena.
He is known for many billboard chart toppers and many artist
love his style of beat making.
So the question quickly arises if this is good or not. Well
the obvious answer on the surface is yes.
Timbo makes a lot of money and is being seeked out by "A"
list artist to record on his tracks most of the time at
$500,000.
This is good in that way. However, let's look under the
surface. He is pigeon holed. Did I say that right?
Anyway, what I mean is he will never be able to
see me on my
production because I don't just swing drums to
produce a song like he does. I actually play melody on my
keyboard. all he does is program drum patterns and then slap
a synth sound or two on top.
Don't get it twisted I love his production because he has
mastered it. I'm just saying I would eat him for lunch on a
challenge because I play.
Dr. Dre', Scott Storch and Rodney Jerkins...Even R. Kelly
would pose a serious damn problem for me because they actually
play piano. Imagine that.
I say all this to bring to light that music producers like
Timbaland, Pharell of the Neptunes and Lil Jon are all
associated by the style of beats they produce.
I could never be pointed out for a track that I have
produced because I am to gifted. You never know what I'm going
to do so I keep you off tilt.
This works well for me and my clients and what they do works
well for them. at least you know the definition of associated
production music though...lol.
