Chicago Music
Video Production
Along with high winds Chicago music video
production is a driving force. who
would ever think that Chi-Town would be on the map for
production.
Michael Jordan pretty much single
handedly brought the city to the forefront of American fans and
media.
However, there are two other people that come to mind when
you speak of Chicago and music.
Who are they you ask?
Kanye West and (Robert) R. Kelly.
Yup, these two producers slash writers are everything to the
Chi when you speak of music whether you are a rapper or a
singer.
So what does this have to do with music video
production you ask? Well here is a quick history
lesson.

Kanye West paid for his own music video out of his pockets
for "Through The Wire". If I'm correct it was around $50,000.
What happened after that?
Well he became a dominating force in Hip Hop and is worth
millions. The same happened with R.Kelly who use to play a
keyboard on the streets of Chicago. Until he shot a video with
his group Public Announcement years later.
Now look at him he is a legend.
These videos were shot with a camera that most middle class
people can afford easily. The Cannon XL2 is not cheap but it's
not as expensive as others. This video camcorder will do the
job for any project you have outside of trying to match Steven
Spielberg.
With the existence of Youtube your work can quickly earn you
thousands of dollars. You just have to know how to market
yourself.
