Music Studio
Recording Software
Making the decision to buy good music studio
recording software is not really hard if you
have done your research.
To be honest audio recording software is a much harder
decision. If you plan on doing some mixing you have to pay
attention to dsp. I currently use Nuendo but I also have Logic
on my new Macbook. Yup, at the time I
write this I have in my possession a titanium pro addition.
I do a lot of
production on it as well using Reason 4.0 with plenty of power
as it is blown out with 8GB of ram.
Make sure you also grab a really good external drive to pull
the recordings off of and backup if needed. If I'm correct
sounds will be pulled off of solid state
drives in the future as SATA drives slowly become
obsolete.
Computers are also getting smaller but more powerful so you
will look thin on your desktop with just a midi controller on
it and an external hardrive. Heck the mac mini is extremely
small but crazy powerful.
If you are a novice hearing words like vst plugins and
rewire or DirectX plugins they might
sound strange.
You will get use to the terms though. Soon you will be
speaking fluent multitrack
recording and digital lingo. Whatever you do make
sure you don't buy cheap equipment unless you absolutely have
to.
